Bridgestone Disputes Liberian Government Pollution Claims

Bridgestone Americas is disputing Liberian government claims that its Firestone rubber plantation is causing pollution in nearby creeks.

Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency closed out a lengthy investigation, finding high levels of orthophosphate being released into the water in creeks near the company’s natural rubber plantation and processing enter in Monrovia.

Bridgestone Americas, which owns and operates the facility, said its own testing of discharge water found it was not harmful to humans. Further, the company said it has its own on-site waste-water treatment facility.

As reported by AllAfrica.com last week, the investigation report did not specify any fines or other action against the company.

Apollo Tyres commenced a pan-European out-of-home (OOH) marketing drive for its new Vredestein Ultrac Pro summer tire. The campaign kicked off with an animated display on the Piccadilly Lights advertising board at Piccadilly Circus in London, UK. Visible to onlookers 24 hours per day, the animation will include periodic takeovers of the entire digital Piccadilly Circus billboard, which is the largest digital advertising display in Europe.
