In today’s business climate, many companies are wondering if they’ll still be around 50 weeks from now. Maybe even 50 days. That’s why, when companies celebrate a 50th anniversary – as Rema Tip Top/North America did on Mar. 11 ®“ people take notice.

The anniversary of Rema’s North American operations was highlighted by the opening of its new 65,000-square-foot warehouse and training facility in Covington, Ga. Customers, suppliers and corporate officials were on hand to mark the occasion.

"It goes without saying that any company that can celebrate a 50th anniversary in this day and age has a right to look back with pride on its successes," said Olafur Gunnarsson, president. "Thank you all for joining us here today. Your decision to be here underlines the common value you and Rema Tip Top have and the personal connection you have established with us."

Founded in New York City under the name Remaco in 1953 by Eugen Klouza, the company moved to New Jersey in 1960. Twenty-five years later, then-CFO Stanley Kaplan changed the company’s name to Rema Tip Top/North America.

While Rema’s executive and financial offices currently remain in Northvale, N.J., plans call for those offices to be relocated to Covington within two to three years. Rema employs 75 people in North America and utilizes eight mobile training units along with its new permanent classroom in Covington.

Rema says it’s mission has, and will continue to be, development of its core business of tire repair materials and equipment it provides customers – along with finding new directions in innovation and education.

The company says success has always been tied to offering high quality and innovative products and educating the market through training.
