New Washington Post/ABC News poll says that 63% of Americans say they have been hurt by the economic downturn.

Longtime Tire Review Editor Jim Smith passed away on Feb. 18, 2016. He was 57. With 30 years in the tire and automotive industries, Jim's communications experience included stints as a newspaper reporter and editor, a public relations manager and a variety of creative and management roles with a B2B marketing communications agency. A Kent State University journalism major, Jim served as editor for a number of community newspapers in Northeast Ohio before joining Modern Tire Dealer in 1984. After four years in brand and corporate public relations roles with Bridgestone Americas, Jim joined Nashville's Stumpf Bartels Advertising in 1992. He became Tire Review's editor in October 1999. Jim was honored with the Ed Wagner Tire Industry Leadership Award by the Tire Industry Association in November 2014.

And 66% are worried about maintaining their standard of living.

Two in 10 said they or someone living in their household had lost a job in the past few months; more than 25% said they had their pay or hours reduced. Fifteen percent said that at some point in the past year they fell behind on their rent or mortgage.

More than 50% are concerned about being able to afford medical care for a sick family member, and nearly 40% worry about making house payments and heating their homes this winter.

Giti Tire Manufacturing awarded by Chester County Chamber of Commerce

Among its initiatives, Giti Tire said it has been a staunch supporter of education, sponsoring the Giti Math & Science competition in collaboration with the Chester County School District since 2018.
