Speaking of Altruistic Reasoning…

Got a news release from Focus Inc., which calls itself “one of the largest direct response auto marketers in the country,” announcing a national “movement dedicated to drawing Congressional attention to automobile dealerships at local levels.”

The “Save My Local Dealer” campaign was set up to defend car dealers from the negative impact of the crumbling car sales industry. “Focus believes the area of greatest impact for the automotive industry is the dealership floor plan, the bridge-financing a dealership receives from the point at which they purchase inventory from a manufacturer to the time they sell the inventory to consumers. If dealerships lose their floor plans –and they currently are – then they have no way to continue business and must close their doors. This essentially creates a domino effect in the industry, impacting both lenders and manufacturers, because there are fewer avenues available for revenue.”

And just who is Focus Inc. and what is their interest in this? “Focus Inc is a marketing agency that specializes in direct-to-consumer advertising in the automotive industry,” said the news release. “Focus serves dealerships in over 80 markets across the U.S. and helps increase revenue through unique and proven marketing models, accounting for over $1.5 billion in car sales per year.”
