The meeting is in accordance with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure statute, and the meeting will “discuss establishing a performance-based logistics approach for the supply chain management of tires for the Department of Defense,” said TIA.

In a nutshell, the base closure statute requires the Defense Department to dispose of assets, including new and retreaded tires. The meeting will outline the procedures that will be followed to “privatize” those tires.
