The 10-minute film, whose debut screening recently took place in New York, stars Uma Thurman as the target of relentless assassins who are determined to kill her for apparently no reason.
The movie begins with Thurman taking her bright yellow Lamborghini Gallardo – fitted with new Pirelli P-Zero tyres, of course – out for a morning spin. Before long, she attracts the attention of two sinister-looking men in a car that pulls up alongside her. Soon, chasing and shooting aplenty breaks out on the streets of Los Angeles. A terrified Thurman soon realises that the key to her survival lies in her maintaining control, both of the vehicle and the situation. As her would be killers up the ante, her skillful driving keeps her one step ahead, and soon she finds herself enjoying the tension. All of the action leads towards the film’s final climactic scene, in which the reason behind this extraordinary and seemingly random chain of events is finally revealed.
The filming of Mission Zero took 10 days, with a further three months of post production work required before the movie was finally complete. A number of renowned Hollywood names, including director Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days, Point Break) and director of photography Janusz Kaminski (who won Oscars for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List) participated in the project.
Once again, Pirelli has decided to use the Internet as the medium for distributing their short film. Its first movie, ‘The Call’, was viewed more than 5 million times over the Internet in less than a year, a number equal to more than 1.1% of the entire global Internet population.
