Waukegan Tire is celebrating its 50th year in business as a provider of tires, custom wheels and automotive services to customers throughout Northern Illinois and Southeast Wisconsin.

The family-owned and operated business has twice been recognized nationally by Tire Review magazine as a Top Shop Finalist among the top four independent tire dealers nationwide. The company has also been recognized for its leadership in providing an outstanding experience for female tire shoppers. With four locations in Lake County Illinois, Waukegan Tire is known for its focus on the customer, quality products and services, and use of state-of-the-art technology to ensure safety.

Waukegan Tire was founded in 1968 by Gerald (Jerry) Nerheim and strives to stay ahead of the curve, embracing new trends and making changes based on where the industry must go. In 2015, Jerry was named “Businessman of the Year” by the Illinois State Crime Commission, honored not only for his business success but also his active support of law enforcement and the community. Today, at age 83, he still enjoys working every day and is most happy when taking good care of customers. He leads by example setting the bar high for standards of customer service, Waukegan Tire said.

“I attribute our success to our loyal customers and dedicated employees who are like extended members of our family,” said Jerry, the company’s president and CEO. “Our industry knowledge and the commitment of our employees over the many years in which have built this business are what sets Waukegan Tire apart.”

Steve Nerheim, the company’s chief operating officer, says “We have developed successful long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers that build trust, while continuing to invest in our community.”

He added, “I am honored to have worked along side my father for over 35 years, which gives me great insight to continue to enhance our company vision going forward.”

To show their appreciation to the great people of Northern Illinois and Southeast Wisconsin, Waukegan Tire is offering a number of promotions to celebrate its 50th anniversary, including:
