Kumho Tire Co. was awarded an iF Design Award for design and concept in the “transport device discipline” category.

Two of Kumho’s products, the Ecsta PS71 HP tire and the “Smasher”, a futuristic concept tire, were selected as the best tires of 2017.

“We have been consistently recognized for our innovation and design excellence by receiving the world’s top four design awards (the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Award of Germany, the IDEA Award of the United States and the Good Design of Japan) last year and winning the iF Design Award this year,” said Chung Taek-gyun, head of Kumho Tire’s R&D division. “We will continue to focus our research capabilities on creating designs that will set our products apart from those of our competitors.”

The iF design award is one of the largest design competitions in the world. Since 1953, a global group of manufacturers and designers have submitted their original products to be appraised by design experts from various areas, Kumho said.
