TravelCenters of America, operator of the TA and Petro Stopping Centers travel center brands, announced the formation of the TA Truck Service Commercial Tire Network.

Having been involved in the truck stop tire business for more than 40 years, the TA Truck Service Commercial Tire Network will allow TA to meet increased customer demand for flexible, efficient sourcing of commercial tires, according to the company.

“We have significantly expanded the ways in which we may sell tires and the tires that we may sell to our customers,” said Tom O’Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters. “In addition to our traditional retail and ‘national account’ offering, we have already added tire brands, including Cooper Tire Roadmaster, Goodyear Marathon and Kelly, and expect to add others soon, including BFGoodrich, Pirelli and Formula by Pirelli.”

O’Brien added the company also has expanded the lineup of tire brands available through its RoadSquad emergency roadside service and its growing OnSITE mobile maintenance service. “Many of the tires in our lineup will now also be available for pick-up by customers, delivery at customer locations and through direct sales,” he said. “We believe that the TA Truck Service Commercial Tire Network is the largest independent commercial tire dealer in the United States, and that we have assembled a leadership and dedicated sales team to bring the combination of wide product choice, flexible delivery/install capability, and competitive pricing to our customers that may be unparalleled in the commercial tire business.”

In an exclusive interview with Tire Review, Barry Richards, executive vice president of TravelCenters of America, added, “We’ve got this fleet of mobile maintenance trucks and now we can expand our tire business without putting up any more buildings, not in the near future anyway, because now we can sell more tires and we can sell them at a competitive price.”

The TA Truck Service network includes 243 truck service facilities, 1,079 repair bays, nearly 3,000 technicians, more than 1,600 RoadSquad Connect emergency roadside assistance vehicles and a growing fleet of OnSITE mobile maintenance vehicles.
