Stellar Industries Closing Kiefer Manufacturing Facility, Looking to Sell

Stellar Industries is closing its Kiefer Manufacturing facility in Sneedville, Tenn., on Dec. 31 and will transition its Kanawha, Iowa, operation to a Stellar company on Jan. 1, 2016.

The change comes as a result of Stellar’s decision to focus on its core business of hydraulic truck mounted equipment and end its horse and livestock trailer manufacturing.

Stellar has also confirmed it is negotiating with a potential buyer for its Sneedville facility.

Approximately 35 employees will be affected by the facility’s sale and all Sneedville employees will receive severance, vacation and personal pay.

The company said it has been working with the Hancock County Mayor to help the employees find new job placements and training.

Stellar said it will complete as many orders as possible by Dec. 31, and manufacturing warranties and replacement parts will be transitioned in the sale of the Sneedville facility.

The company added that the plant in Kanawha, Iowa, will meet the increased demand for Stellar products once the transition is complete.
