The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has partnered again with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation. The tiremaker will open its U.S. blimp bases in Ohio, California and Florida to collect toys for the foundation, while giving the public a close-up view of the airships.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps to bring holiday cheer to our communities while supporting the Toys for Tots program,” said Paul Fitzhenry, the company’s senior vice president of global communications. “We are looking forward to a great turnout once again this year.”
The Akron, Ohio, airbase will be open for donations on Dec. 11-13 from noon to 9 p.m. Visitors can see the progress of the construction on the second of Goodyear’s latest generation blimp.
The Pompano Beach, Fla., base will be open Dec. 12-13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On display will be the newest airship, “Wingfoot One.”
The Carson, Calif., base will be open Dec. 5-6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature the “Spirit of Innovation” blimp.
There is no charge to visit the airbases and a donation is not required to enjoy the holiday scene, Goodyear said. At each location, visitors can also enter to win a blimp ride.
Goodyear and the Marines have collaborated on four Toys for Tots events, raising more than $75,000 and delivering more than 57,000 toys.
