Mighty Auto Parts Recognizes Boyd’s with Award

Mighty Auto Parts recently recognized Boyd’s Tire and Service with its “Mightiest of the Mighty” award. The Columbus, Ohio, tire dealer was one of three national winners recognized for its volunteerism and charitable works by owner Keith Boyd and store manager Mike Hoover.

“Mightiest of the Mighty celebrates businesses that give back to their communities through philanthropy and volunteerism,” said Ken Voelker, president and chief executive officer of Mighty Auto Parts “We are proud to contribute to Boyd’s Tire and Service Centers to help Keith Boyd and Mike Hoover continue their work to support families with autistic children.”

Mike Hoover leads several charitable efforts, with the assistance of the Boyd family, but his primarily cause is providing support to families with autistic children. Hoover understands these challenges as his oldest son was diagnosed with severe autism and his younger son with Asperger syndrome.

Through Hoover’s organization Make it Fit, funds are raised for autism research and support agencies in Ohio. Each year Boyd’s Tire and Service, with seven locations, co-sponsors and hosts several fundraising activities for the organization.

The Mightiest of the Mighty Award was given to Mighty Auto Parts’ partners as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. Each winner was awarded a $5,000 grant.

Other winners include Bobby Williams of Bobby & Steve’s Auto World in Eden Prairie, Minn., and David Epperly of Epperly Tire & Auto Centers in Columbus, Ga.

Williams was recognized for his organization Bobby & Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation, designed to “guide local youth into actions and activities that will provide positive outcomes in their lives.”

Epperly was recognized for a program his shop calls Changing Oil, Changing Lives. Each month the program donates all the money raised from oil changes on a specific day to charity. Since it began three years ago, the program has given more than $30,000 to various charities including, the American Cancer Society, Toys for Tots, Goodwill and more.
