Tire Rack’s Street Survival program, a national non-profit teen driving education effort, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and recently completed its 500th local program. 
Tire Rack Street Survival will also host eight additional programs throughout the country, leading up to and during National Teen Driver Safety Week (Oct. 14-20), to continue to save lives and raise awareness about teen driving deaths.
“The goal of the Tire Rack Street Survival program is to save lives by teaching young drivers how to control their vehicle rather than simply operate it,” said Bill Wade, national program manager. “National Teen Driver Safety Week calls attention to a problem we address year-round and few teens realize that driving is one of the most dangerous things they can do.”
Tire Rack Street Survival classes are conducted by local member volunteers from regional chapters of the BMW Car Club of America, the Sports Car Club of America, Porsche Club of America and other car clubs.
“Communities that participate in National Teen Driver Safety Week and advanced driver’s education programs across the nation become part of the solution,” said Matt Edmonds, vice president of the Tire Rack. “We are proud to continue educating parents and teens about car control and safety behind the wheel with the Tire Rack Street Survival program, one community at a time.”
