Toyo Adds 41 News Sizes Across Lines

(Akron/Tire Review) Toyo Tire (USA) Corp. has added 41 new sizes to a variety of its passenger and light truck/SUV tires.

The new sizes include OE fitments and plus sizes for custom applications and includes one industry exclusive, Toyo claims.
 
“The 305/30ZR20 Proxes T1R is a brand-new size to the industry and currently exclusive to Toyo. This is a cutting-edge rear plus size that was previously limited to only prototype applications. The size had never gone into actual production by any manufacturer until now,” said Robert Waytashek, Toyo’s consumer products manager.

The new sizes include:

• Proxes T1R – 255/30ZR22, 305/30ZR20 and 315/25ZR20.

• Proxes 4 – 245/40ZR20 and 275/25ZR24.

• Spectrum – P175/70R14, P185/65R15, P215/60R15 and P205/55R16.

• Proxes S/T – 315/30R22.

• Open Country A/T – P235/75R17, P245/75R17, P235/70R17, P245/70R17, P255/70R17, P285/70R17, P255/65R17, 235/60R17, P275/65R18, 285/50R20, LT275/65R18 and LT305/60R20.
 
• Open Country H/T – P235/75R16, P235/75R17, P245/75R17, P235/70R17, P235/60R17, 255/60R17, 255/70R18, P235/65R18, 235/60R18, 255/60R18, P275/60R18, 255/55R18, 255/55R19, 275/55R20, 265/50R20, 285/45R22, and LT245/75R17 LRE.
 
• M-55 – LT245/75R17 LRE and LT275/70R18 LRE.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company said its first quarter 2024 sales were $4.5 billion, with tire unit volumes totaling $40.4 million. For the first quarter, Goodyear's net loss was $57 million compared to a Goodyear net loss of $101 million a year ago. Leadership said the year-over-year improvement was driven by increases in segment operating income. The 2024 period also included items like, on a pre-tax basis, Goodyear Forward costs of $28 million and rationalization charges of $22 million, compared with pre-tax rationalization charges of $32 million in 2023. Goodyear said Goodyear Forward costs are comprised of advisory, legal and consulting fees and costs associated with planned asset sales.
