The Tire Rack plans to break ground this week on a hugeexpansion to its South Bend, Ind., home base.

According to the South Bend Tribune, the 130,000-square-footexpansion project will add warehouse and office space to the already massive532,000-square-foot headquarters location.

Excluding equipment, the family-controlled company willspend some $3.8 million on the project, the Tribune reported. The new warehousespace will be operational in May.

Since it moved into its new home in 2001, employment at thefacility has grown from around 190 people to some 400, with the company adding15-20 each year, the story said.

Tire Rack also has five other U.S. warehouses, and claims tobe able to reach 88% of the U.S. population within one day.
