TIA is taking its Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Certification Course on the road in 2012, and will do so with the assist of 21 industry suppliers.
The Certified ATS Program is designed to create a network of certified instructors who can then train and certify technicians in the field, said TIA. By holding 28 classes in 28 different cities around the country, TIA feels the program will be more accessible for retailers of any size.
The 21 sponsors pledged their support for the entire year and agreed to help TIA promote the training to their respective customer bases. Among the sponsors are American Tire Distributors, Continental Automotive Systems, Mighty Auto Parts, Ateq Inc., Bartec USA, Dill Air Controls, NAPA, Plombco Inc., Tech International, Rema Tip Top, Myers Tire Supply, Modern Tire Dealer, Patch Rubber, Hennessy Industries, AME International, Tuffy Manufacturing, Tiremetrix, Ingersoll-Rand, Group 31, Mohawk Rubber Sales and 1-800-EveryRim.
"The response from the supplier community for the upcoming ATS Instructor Tour has been incredible," said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training. "With their support, we have the resources – including tools and supplies – that we need to conduct the first-class, hands-on training that TIA is known for. Retailers who take advantage of this opportunity can take control over their technician training program and make sure that every employee is qualified to service passenger and light truck tires."
