Police are searching again for the man accused of shooting up a tire shop near Dallas on Christmas Eve, after the suspect disappeared after posting bail, local media reports.
The suspect allegedly planned to kill Muslims at the shop and shot at customers outside, which resulted in the death of one man, wounding of bystanders and staff and the critical wounding of another, local media reports.
Police said they are investigating the shooting as a “crime of bias,” while the Dallas County District Attorney’s office called the shooting a “hate crime” in a statement. The suspect reportedly asked if the owner – who is Muslim – was Muslim about two weeks before shooting up the shop and yelled Muslim while shooting.
The suspect was released from the Dallas County jail on Jan. 13, after posting bonds for a murder charge and two aggravated assault charges.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, a judge in Dallas ordered the suspect be arrested for failing to meet the conditions of his bonds. Police have not been able to locate the suspect.
