Swanson’s Tire shop in Midtown, Okla., near Oklahoma City, has closed after a century in business, News 9 reports.
Midtown has been flooded with new business, which in turn has hurt family-owned businesses in the area.
Swanson’s Tire sat on prime real estate and was given an offer that the owner said he could not refuse. The five buildings on site will be remodeled into office space, a restaurant and a bar. Construction is set to start next year.
Swanson’s Tires opened in 1909 and has replaced and repaired tires for 106 years. On Oct. 16 the shop worked on its last cars.
