Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. says that the Wichita, Kan., tire warehouse that was destroyed by fire on Aug. 24 was not theirs.
Despite the fact the burned warehouse sported both a Hercules logo and that of its Tire Dealers Warehouse division, Hercules officials said the facility is owned and operated by one of its dealers.
The dealership Shamrock Tire stocks and sells Hercules products, the tire company said, and operates a wholesale business under the Tire Dealers Warehouse name and even uses Hercules’s TDW logomark.
“Hercules Tire of Tulsa is a long-time customer and our distributor partner in that region of the country. They are welcome to use our logo,” Hercules said in a statement.
The two-alarm fire destroyed the facility and the thousands of tires inside. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
