A Midas store location in Ypsilanti, Mich., has become a dumping ground for scrap tires, and police are working leads to find the perpetrators.
On May 1, some 80 scrap tires were illegally dumped at the store, the latest in a string of such acts that have hampered the location.
The Ypsilanti Police Department has been working on the case, and has tracked some of the tires back to car dealers and auto parts stores.
The Midas store manager figures there is a group going from place to place looking for usable tires, and are dumping the ones they don’t want at his store.
Meanwhile, the added pile of scrap tires has drawn city inspector attention, and notices have been filed telling the store to clean up its growing pile.
