NBC Sports has selected Goodyear to provide aerial coverage of the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
This marks the 10th Olympic games to which Goodyear has lent its blimp, including the most recent at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.
"Goodyear’s reputation as a superior aerial provider is a natural match for the prestige of NBC Olympics’ coverage of the Olympic Games," said Nancy Ray, Goodyear’s director of airship operations.
Goodyear started its aerial coverage almost 90 years ago. The Goodyear blimp Volunteer provided a local radio station a bird’s-eye view of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932. Goodyear blimps also provided aerial views for broadcasters at other Olympics in Los Angeles, Lillehammer, Atlanta, Sydney, Salt Lake City, Turin, Beijing and Vancouver.
