A Fort Wayne, Mich., man’s need to eat prompted him to burglarize a tire shop where he used to work, according to newly released court documents.
Prosecutors formally charged Rodney A. Bowman with four counts of burglary and one count of receiving stolen property. Bowman is accused of burglarizing Sparks Commercial Tire west of Fort Wayne at least twice in late December and two times early this month.
His burglaries caused the tire shop to keep installing new surveillance cameras to catch him. After each burglary, more cameras were installed at Sparks Commercial Tire. Video captured Bowman taking tires, tools and other items, according to the court documents.
The man said he only intended to take wheels; however, he progressed to stealing a computer, a lockbox with $200 inside and several other items. When police questioned the suspect, he said he burglarized the store because he “needed to eat.”
