Those who oppose the plan including the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, Teamsters watchdog group Public Citizen state that Mexican trucks are dangerous because hours of service are not monitored until drivers cross the border.
Currently, Mexican truckers are restricted to a 20-mile zone north of the border, at which point they must transfer goods to U.S. carriers.
