ATD Expands Canadian Presence

American Tire Distributor’s owned TriCan Tire Distributors has acquired the wholesale distribution business of Kipling Tire Co. The acquisition expands the ATD’s reach within Canada.

Kipling Tire Co. has operated as a retail-wholesale business since 1982 with more than 400 different accounts in southern Ontario. The company’s retail operations were not acquired by TriCan and will continue to operate as a stand-alone business unit under its current ownership.

ATD entered the Canadian market with the purchase of TriCan in December 2012. The distributor has expanded its reach through southern Canada most recently when it purchased Ontario-based Wholesale Tire Distributors in December 2013.

At one of its South Florida NTW distribution centers, as well as TBC Corp.'s Palm Beach Gardens corporate offices, TBC employees recently had the opportunity to show their children the ins and outs of the company's role in the tire industry during "Take Your Child to Work Day." The kids had a jam-packed day learning about tires, taking photos, doing media research, and even eating lunch with the company's new CEO, Don Byrd.
