Thank you for your editorial (First Off, April 2010) regarding the reinvigoration of our tire industry’s presence with the Global Tire Expo in the annual Las Vegas Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week.
I hope readers take note of your most important point: Profits from a TIA-owned show are “reinvested back to benefit the tire industry through government relations, training and education, a wide range of member benefit programs and tire dealer support efforts.”
History has shown us that every significant marketplace will have a trade show. Someone will organize it: If not the industry’s own trade association, it could be a for-profit company. In that situation, profits are then gone, not reinvested in attending to dealers’ future success.
Congratulations to Roy and Chris for their leadership in setting the stage for a return to prominence of our tire industry.
