Cooper Plant Death Likely From Natural Causes

(Albany (Ga.) Herald) A man found dead at Cooper Tire and Rubber plant likely died of a heart attack, authorities say.

Although preliminary autopsy results have yet to yield a definitive cause of death for 46-year-old Robert Hawkins, Dougherty County Coroner Emma Quimbley said that nothing suspicious about his death has been discovered.

“It looks like I’ll have to wait on his toxicology report to come back before we know for sure, but early indications are that he likely died from cardiac arrest caused by some medical condition,” Quimbley said.

Quimbley said she will hold off issuing a formal cause and manner of death until a complete autopsy is finished.

Hawkins was found dead in a bathroom by workers who were nearing the end of their shift, Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek said Thursday.

The toxicology report could likely take weeks to process but Quimbley, who was in Forsyth at training when the call came in Thursday, underscored that nothing suspicious was found during examination of the body. (Tire Review/Akron)
