Apollo Tyres Helps Indian Province Affected by Flooding

With Apollo Tyres’ manufacturing facilities in the province of Kerala, India now nearing normalcy after flooding, the tiremaker is offering aid across the region.

Apollo Tyres’ manufacturing facilities in the province of Kerala, India are now nearing normalcy after employees couldn’t go to work due to heavy flooding in the state.

The facilities, in Perambra and Kalamassery, did not have any damage to equipment or property, and all employees of the company are safe and secure, Apollo Tyres says. However, the production loss due to the natural disaster is about 3,000 metric tons (around 6.6 million pounds). The profit loss from this is not significant, the company says.

The production loss is covered under Apollo’s insurance policy, and the company is in the process of assessing its losses to be claimed from the insurance company.

In an effort to rebuild the province of Kerala, Apollo has sent four truckloads of cleaning kits and first aid kits across the city. It has also engaged with relevant agencies for waste removal and safe disposal from affected houses. It has also deployed two mobile healthcare vans in the city of Kochi, along with a team of doctors and paramedics, and with a supply of medicines, which will attend to healthcare needs in nearby areas. Apollo Tyres has also donated to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
