GTE Sets Host Hotel, Special Event Schedule

The new Global Tire Expo Powered by TIA continues to take shape as the association announced its host hotel and outlined special events planned around the 2010 event.

The GTE will take place as part of the SEMA Show, set for Nov. 1-5 in Las Vegas. The Paris Hotel & Casino will serve as the host hotel for the GTE.

We strongly believe that creating the new Global Tire Expo Powered by TIA, where everyone in the tire industry can gather and exhibit, as well as continuing our very popular special events, provides an unparalleled opportunity for everyone in the tire industry to network, make important business contacts, learn from experts, and enjoy some of the best food and entertainment in the world," said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

“GTE booth sales are healthy, and we encourage everyone to see who is exhibiting, as they’ll quickly discover that the Global Tire Expo has the exhibitors that really shape this industry,” he said.

TIA said it has secured a special room rate at the Paris Hotel for TIA members attending the GTE, with a weekday rate (Sunday through Thursday) of $125 per night. The weekend rate of $160 per night applies on Friday and Saturday.

Hotel rooms are limited, and can be reserved online at tireindustry.org or by calling TIA at 800-967-8852.

Last year saw the introduction of two new special events: the Wine & Cheese Social and Tire Industry Honors. Due to the overwhelming success of both events, they will be back for this year, TIA said, with both taking place at Paris Hotel on Monday, Nov. 1.

The Wine & Cheese Social will start at 5 p.m., and is free to TIA members and GTE attendees.

Immediately following the Wine & Cheese Social from 6-7:30 p.m. will be Tire Industry Honors. Extremely well attended last year, this year’s event will honor 2010 Tire Industry Hall of Fame inductees, as well award winners and honorees from tire industry publications, such as Tire Review’s Top Shop Award winner and Modern Tire Dealer’s recognition of the outgoing TIA president Wayne Croswell. In addition, the event will see the formal installation of TIA incoming president Mike Berra.

Admission to this event is also complimentary to all TIA members and GTE attendees, though an RSVP is required. For reservations, visit the "Events" section of www.tireindustry.org, or call 800-876-8372, ext. 104.

Following the Tire Industry Honors event – from 7:30-9:30 p.m. – TIA will host its GTE Welcome Reception, which will be held at Les Artistes Steakhouse at the Paris Hotel. A great networking opportunity, TIA said, tickets for the event are $50 per person; they may be ordered by visiting the "Events" section of www.tireindustry.org, or by calling 800-876- 8372, ext. 104.

TIA is actively seeking sponsors for these events. Interested companies or individuals can contact Megan Walsh at 800-876-8372, ext. 112, or e-mail her at [email protected].
