Alison Wong has recently been appointed COO, having overseen what are described as "unprecedented sales" during her last two years as managing director. The current high price of oil is impacting negatively on all sectors of industry – notably transportation and logistics, but Alison Wong, quoted in the Goodway corporate magazine Khronicle, suggests that retreading is one way to ease this pressure.
She says: "Retreading is cost-efficient as a reusable resource and value for money. We can turn this threat into an opportunity with our established reputation for premium quality retreads that consistently deliver high performance, durability and safety."
Having said that, these economic pressures are very real and Goodway continues to attempt to lower production costs, although the company accepts that some price increase is inevitable, as Goodway refuses to compromise on quality or standards of processing or raw materials.
Goodway prefers to develop long-term partnerships with its customers and works with them to maximise their opportunities. For example, the sales and marketing function offers its expertise, similar to a business consultancy, giving advice on marketing, product selection and tyre maintenance.
With regard to rising fuel prices, Goodway has introduced its Supercool LRS range of retread compounds. These are low rolling resistance compounds, saving fuel for fleet owners and truckers.
And fuel saving is not the only advantage, as test in Holland showed that Supercool LRS retreads enhanced wet traction performance by up to 30%.
As well as truck retreads, Goodway group companies produce a range of other products. Perhaps the most visible of these is the range of precured OTR tyre retreads offered by Goodway subsidiary Bigwheel OTR. These tyres are suitable for a variety of mining and construction machinery, including dump trucks, articulated dump trucks, coal haulers, shovels, loaders and bulldozers.
Tyres are produced in a number of sizes, from 2400R35 to 4000R57 and they include Goodway’s Tough Tread precured tread liners, which are tailor-made to combat, abrasion, cuts and heat build up. (Tyres & Accessories/Staffordshire, U.K.)
