OK Tire Presents Awards at Annual Meeting

(Akron/Tire Review) OK Tire Stores Inc. hosted 426 of its dealers, suppliers and staff at its recent 2006 Annual Conference, held in Cancun, Mexico. The February event included educational seminars, dealer awards and a good bit of fun, the company said.

Newly appointed OK Tire President Greg Sims greeted attendees at the opening night banquet, and Steve Grice, vice president of finance and administration, presented the OK Tire Service Awards to 16 individuals who were recognized for their years of service to OK Tire. Among the recipients was George Grose, who was honored for his 40 years of service with the company, where he has served as a dealer, director and as chairman of the board.

Keynote speaker and NHL legend Mike Bossy shared stories of overcoming adversity, and delivered a message about the realities of professional hockey based on his 10- year career with the New York Islanders.

Other keynotes, OK Tire dealers Bob Hooey and Patrick Leroux, spoke about how to create a “positive legend” for themselves, their employees and their store.

One business item for OK Tire shareholders was the annual general meeting and the election of new directors. Stepping down was Jules Bolduc of OK Tire in Levis/St. David, who was replaced by Aline Albert of OK Tire in Chomedey Laval.

Wayne Barnes, national manager of franchising and dealer development; Carolle Gagnon, manager of franchising and dealer development; and Grose were joined by Mike Bossy to present OK Tire Store of the Year Awards to a number of locations. Among the winners were: Pacific Region – Eric and Cheryl Hofman, OK Tire in Penticton; Prairie Region – Jimmy and Joie Williams, OK Tire in Cold Lake; Central Region – Greg Lindsay, OK Tire in St. George; and East Region – Sylvain Boisvert, OK Tire in Cap de la Madeleine.

The OK Tire Rising Star Award went to Michel Lavoie of OK Tire in St. Hubert. And the National Store of the Year Award went to Dave Cote, OK Tire in Grand Prairie.
