Maxxis Develops Light Truck Tyre Range

(Clacton, U.K./Tyres & Accessories) Building on its reputation for van tyres that are durable and deliver excellent handling capabilities, Maxxis is expanding its U.K. product portfolio with a range of light truck tyres designed to meet the needs of operators who want quality at an affordable price.

“We have gained invaluable experience in the LCV sector during the past few years and are now utilising leading edge tyre technology to satisfy the requirements of the UK’s light truck market,” says Derek McMartin, managing director of Maxxis International UK plc. “The majority of our light truck tyres are currently available from leading wholesaler Group Tyre, and as we develop this area of our business, we are looking to recruit specialist distributors for these products.”

This autumn sees the introduction the new Maxxis UR-275 series, which features an advanced tread compound designed to resist heat generation and a rib pattern that gives a smooth, quiet ride. Ideally suited to medium-size trucks, the UR-275 will be available in sizes 215/75R17.5 PR to 245/70R19.5. With low rolling resistance, an extra-strong casing to prevent punctures and abrasions, outstanding manoeuvrability and first class driving and handling stability, the UR-275 is set to compare favourably with the very best on the market.

The UR-275 will join the Maxxis UE-168, UE-100, UE-101, UE-102 and UE-103 series, all of which incorporate double-steel belts and continuous shoulder ribs for long wear. They are manufactured from a premium rubber compound with extra plies to combat punctures and abrasion.

The UE-103 features a rugged tread compound formulation and is said to offer good abrasion resistance, while high tensile strength steel-belts extend tyre life. R-, T- and H-speed rated, 195/65R, 205/65R, 225/65R and 205/65R sizes were added in the spring.

The UE-168 is R-speed rated with a 70-80 series profile, the popular UE-168 is manufactured with a double steel belt for durability and uniformity, while a jointless spiral-wrapped full nylon cap adds strength and stability. This pattern is available in a 12- to 16-inch size range.

The MA-751 Bravo is described as “a firm favourite amongst sports truck/pick-up/4×4 users,” and comes in 13- to 16-inch sizes and, like the UE-168, features a double steel belt and a jointless spiral-wrapped full nylon cap.

The MA-703 uses a double-steel belt construction for stability and long tread life, while the aggressive tread design is said to deliver smooth handling at high speeds.
