First-Time Event Tyrexpo Africa Was a Sell Out

(Douglasdale, South Africa/Southern Africa Treads) Twelve months ago, the notion of South Africa hosting its own dedicated Tyre Show was all but a dream.

Fueled by growing interest in our market from international tyre manufacturers, retreaders and distributors of tyre-related products and accessories, ECI International (UK) – organizers of Tyrexpo Asia and Brityrex range of tyre shows – took on the challenge of organizing a similar event for the African continent. For the first time in decades, South Africa hosted its very own specialized tyre exhibition at the Sandton Convention Centre from Sept. 12-14.

“The support and enthusiasm this show has met with to date, endorses the fact that the timing is right for the South African tyre industry to embrace and support its own dedicated, independent tyre industry exhibition,” confirmed Rowena Suthers, director of ECI International. With more than 100 national and international exhibitors covering an area of approximately 5,000 square metres, the range of products and services on display was very diverse.

The show featured the very latest in tyres and tyre technology, retreads and retreading equipment, tyre production equipment, wheels and wheel alignment technology, tyre repair and tyre changing equipment, fast-fit and garage equipment, balancing, nitrogen inflation, valves, tyre recycling and disposal, tools and accessories.

Representation from the local market included the likes of Michelin Tyre SA, Continental, Bandag, Leader Tread, ChemVulc Marketing and Malas, to name but a few influential players in the marketplace.
