Carbon black manufacturer Sid Richardson Carbon & Energy Co. has begun the planning phase for the construction of a carbon black production facility in Mexico.
“Based on the current demand for carbon black in North America and projections for the next five years alone, we are viewing this venture as a necessary move to serve our customers,” said Bill Jones, president and CEO, on its website.
Several tiremakers have plants in Mexico including Pirelli, Continental, Bridgestone, Cooper, and Michelin. Additionally, Goodyear recently announced that its new North American plant is going to be built in Mexico.
Sid Richardson Carbon & Energy plans on having its newest facility producing carbon black by 2017.
