The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has sued TBC Corp.’s Carroll Tire Co. unit, charging the business with discrimination.
According to the EEOC’s suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, Carroll Tire’s location in Grovetown, Ga., fired warehouse assistant manager Terilyn Holliday after her branch manager was instructed to "get rid of her because she was a woman and did not need to be a manager."
During Holliday’s nine years of employment she received no disciplinary write-ups or warnings, the EEOC said.
The EEOC said it filed suit after first attempting to reach a voluntary "undefined" settlement. The lawsuit seeks back pay, and compensatory and punitive damages for Holliday.
