Continental Tire the Americas has announced its HTL1 super wide truck tire tread is now available as a ContiTread retread. Additionally, its HDR2 Eco Plus received SmartWay verification.
Super wide truck tires like the HTL1 are often used in liquid and dry bulk handling applications, where there is a weight concern and the HTL1 is perfect for fleets looking for fuel and weight savings, said John Barnes, ContiLifeCycle manager for the Americas.
The tire features a 13/32-inch tread depth and a fuel-efficient rib pattern, and is available in sizes 445/50R22.5 and 455/55R22.5, the company said.
Additionally, Continental’s HDR2 Eco Plus recently received low rolling resistance retread technology verification for another new product under the EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership, the company said.
The tire is for use in the drive position on Class 8 trucks and features a 30/32-inch tread depth, an open shoulder design, and gives approximately 20% less rolling resistance in regional applications than the HDR2, the tiremaker said. The tire is available in sizes 11R22.5 and 295/75R22.5.
