AMRA Members Get Monthly Legislation Updates

Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association (AMRA) and Motorist Assurance Program (MAP) have a new member benefit designed to keep companies up-to-date on state-level legislative changes affecting the automobile repair industry.

The Directions Legislation Update will be distributed each month on or about the 15th. The first issue will be released on June 15.

The Directions Legislation Update will contain a monthly update on auto repair legislation introduced in all 50 states. It will include what action was taken, when the legislation will be/was passed and when it will be/was signed into law by the state governor.

A web link to the proposed legislation will also be provided to enable members to review it and determine the impact it may have on their day-to-day business.

In addition, AMRA’s State and Local Legislation/Regulations affecting vehicle repair facilities, which includes a listing of the state offices overseeing the regulations, will be available at no additional cost in the “Member Only” section of the AMRA web site at www.amra.org.

Members must have a user ID and password to access the information, and it will be updated on a quarterly basis. States that have added new regulations will be identified to make record-keeping easier.

This publication details government requirements on a variety of issues, including (where applicable): customer disclosures, signage, equipment requirements; estimates, work orders and invoices; filter and materials management; licensing, certification and registration requirements; record retention; warrantees; waste materials disposal management; and other topics affecting the day-to-day business operations of member companies.
