AAIA Recognizes World Class Technicians

Of the more than 850,000 automotive technicians working in the U.S., the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association has named 17 who have qualified for the AAIA World Class Technician Award.

Each of the techs tested and obtained ASE certification in 22 specialty areas during the 2008 test administrated by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

The 17 World Class Technicians are:

John Conn, Barrington, N.J.
George Day, Jr., Mount Laurel, N.J.
Glenn Epolito, The Colony, Texas
Russell French II, Gold River, Calif.
Michael Geiger, Las Vegas, Nev.
Timothy Hays, Baldwin City, Kan.
Christopher Isaacs, Lowell, Ind.
Eric Keller, Mount Laurel, N.J.
Peter Lehman, Mount Laurel, N.J.
Michael Macik, Mount Laurel, N.J.
Paul Orwal, Menomonee Falls, Wis.
Steven Patterson, Mount Laurel, N.J.
Peter Raucci, Rolling Meadows, Ill.
Timothy Stachelrodt, Phillipsburg, N.J.
Bryan Terpstra, Cambria, Wis.
Eric Walker, Swiftwater, Pa.
Robert Weinand, Mount Laurel, N.J.

“The AAIA World Class Technician Award is for automotive diagnostic and repair professionals what the Super Bowl is for professional football players or the Stanley Cup is for hockey players,” said Kathleen Schmatz, AAIA president and CEO. “Just imagine the knowledge and skills needed by a technician to pass 22 ASE tests. These folks are truly the best of the best and we are proud to be associated with them through our annual recognition in conjunction with ASE.”

Since the world class recognition was established 22 years ago, 1,776 technicians have been honored. Recipients receive a certificate signed by the presidents of ASE and AAIA, an engraved toolbox plate and an embroidered shoulder insignia. Their name is inscribed in an honor book located in the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Mich. (Tire Review/Akron)
