Alaska Dealer Has Major Expansion Plans

Johnson's Tire Service will break ground on a new store in South Anchorage this spring and also combine two existing stores to create a Johnson's Tire Superstore.

Anchorage, Alaska-based Johnson’s Tire Service will break ground on a new store in South Anchorage this spring.

In addition, the tire dealer is relocating one of its stores to combine it with another, which is undergoing major renovation.

“With our lease expiring at the one facility, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to consolidate that store with our other store into a single, upgraded superstore and expand our operations to the south end of town,” said Kelly Gaede, president.

The company’s Minnesota store was closed at the end of 2011, and the Denali St. store is already undergoing major remodeling. When renovations are complete in April 2012, the Johnson’s Tire Superstore will have a state-of-the-art showroom, a refurbished carwash, and a comfortable lobby where customers can watch their cars being serviced on wall-mounted flat screens.

Other customer amenities will include free lattes and access to the Internet on Apple iMacs.

You can take a virtual tour of the Denali remodel by visiting the company’s website, according to the company.

“Our customers will find the same friendly faces waiting to serve them at the Denali Superstore since our entire team of tire experts is making the move with them. No jobs are being lost under our renovation and expansion plans. In fact, by the time everything is done, we expect to create more jobs,” Gaede said.

The new South Anchorage store is scheduled to open in August 2012 just prior to the winter tire changeover season.

Johnson’s Tire also has stores in Eagle River, Wasilla and Soldotna.
