The fire first reported by eastern Tennessee media as destroying a local retail tire store actually leveled a retread plant. Finding that it was able to reassign production needs to other plants faster than anticipated, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has officially ceased tire production at its Union City, Tenn., plant.
