Yokohama Adds V, W-Speed Rated Winter Tire to Line

Yokohama-W-drive-V905Yokohama Tire Corp. added a new member to its W.drive winter tire line: the V905.

Yokohama’s W.drive V905 winter tire is available now for U.S. and Canadian tire dealers to order for this coming winter. The tire is available in V- and W-speed rating, and fitments for the W.drive V905 include Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Volvo, Lexus, BMW, Cadillac and Toyota.

“The W.drive V905 is our most complete high-performance winter offering to date,” said Bob Abram, manager, product planning. “The V and W-speed rated tire was developed to be more durable, fuel-efficient and handle the most extreme winter driving conditions.”

According to the tiremaker, benefits of the W.drive V905 include:

  • Advanced construction contributes to driving stability, while increased block stiffness provides self-assured handling in all winter conditions (dry, wet/slush, snow/ice) and temperatures thanks to triple 3-D sipes.
  • The lightweight design lowers fuel consumption and low rolling resistance is promoted by the advanced engineered Silica end-locked orange oil compound.
  • Zigzag circumferential grooves work in tandem with variable angles while lateral grooves improve stability and help prevent sliding.
  • Wide slanting grooves and directional tread pattern provide drainage to combat hydroplaning.
