TyreSafe, a U.K.-based tire safety organization, is urging drivers in the country to check their tires after the organization reported that more than 2.2 million cars failed Ministry of Transportation (MoT) testing in 2013 as a result of unsafe or illegal tires.
The report showed that drivers are depending on the MoT to find the issue instead of checking the condition of their tires on a regular basis.
“It beggars belief that so many motorists can fail their MoT because of unsafe or illegal tires,” Stuart Jackson, TyreSafe chairman, said. “Your safety on the road is totally dependent upon the condition of your tires so it’s vital that you check these regularly throughout the year, let alone just before you take your MoT.”
