Tyrepac Unveils First Phase of Asia-Wide Online Tyre Portal

With the help of the Singapore Government’s Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board, Singapore based company Tyrepac is developing what it says is Asia’s first online tyre retailing site.

The company’s first Web site, for the Singapore market, is already up and running, and the company states that sites for China, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and Hong Kong will be live in late March 2009. Plans are also underway to expand into India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

The online store was developed, says Tyrepac, to enable consumers in Asia to have a central platform to see and compare tyre brands, patterns, and prices. Tyrepac believes the site will remove the mystery surrounding replacing tyres by being transparent and, at the same time, educational. “We want to be your supermarket for tyres,” the company states on its new Singapore market Web site.

Upon purchase and payment of tyres through the Tyrepac Web site, consumers can choose any of their fitment stations located throughout Singapore to get their tyres fitted. A call centre is also readily available to take any questions. Tyrepac says the company will soon also operate a mobile fitment and oil change service.

According to Tyrepac, the company is unrolling Asia’s first tyre portal, and it claims to offer “the best quality products, giving expert advice, with excellent logistic, at exceptional prices for tyres, wheels, and automotive products.” The operation is supported by a call centre, and a network of qualified fitment centres.

Tyrepac is the brainchild of 38-year-old Ler Hwee Tiong, an economics and geography graduate from the National University of Singapore. After working in several retailing and sales roles in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and most recently in Shanghai, where he was the Asia region sales director for an American company, he returned to Singapore to found his business. Further information about Tyrepac can be found on the company’s tyrepac.com site. (Tyres & Accessories/Staffordshire, U.K.)
