These are the first D.O.T. approved competition tires that Toyo has offered in sizes suited for the Lotus. Already known for their razor sharp handling, both Lotus models receive even greater cornering performance with direct fit, 195/50R16 front and 225/45R17 rear Proxes R888 tires, Toyo said.
Launched in mid-year 2007, the race-winning Proxes R888 takes handling to a new level with its semi-slick shoulder area and stiff sidewall. The result for the already capable Lotus cars is racecar-like handling which is ideal for road racing, track days, driving schools and performance street driving. The tire features a unidirectional tread pattern with v-shaped grooves to enhance wet traction. A rounded outer shoulder helps to maintain tire contact, even during changes in suspension geometry. A continuous center contact delivers excellent directional control during hard braking, the company said.
The Proxes R888 is rated treadwear 100, traction AA and temperature A. Molded to a 6/32nd inch tread depth, the tire can be shaved to maximize dry traction for competitive events. (Tire Review/Akron)
