TruSafe Unveils New Tire to Reduce Blowout Deaths

TruSafe Systems has unveiled a tire design called the Triplx 3-1 Tire System, which would allow drivers to stay in control in the event of a puncture.

The new design has three internal air chambers. If one chamber is punctured or cut, the other two remain intact, allowing drivers to control their vehicles and get to a safe location to change the tire in the event of a puncture.

Tire blowouts cause hundreds of deaths annually in the United States. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported approximately 78,000 accidents and 400 deaths related to tire blowouts in 2014.

“After witnessing several highway accidents stemming from blowouts, I wanted to focus my skills on creating a tire that would address this problem,” said Eladio Vargas, who invented the new design. “I hope to improve safety on the road, especially for families, people who are uncomfortable changing tires, and people who might not be able to.”

The Triplx 3-1 Tire System can be mounted on most vehicles that use standard tires, including passenger cars, SUVs, vans, trucks, RVs, buses, motor homes, race cars, military vehicles, and airplanes.

The Triplx 3-1 was featured as part of The Inventors Road Show.
