The facility and its production will be moved to Sri Lanka, where Trelleborg plans to expand an existing plant.
The Ceylon Daily News said that the Swedish firm intends to invest $20 million in expanding its operations in Sri Lanka, part of which involve relocating its entire Hartville, Ohio, plant.
At present, Trelleborg operates two facilities in Sri Lanka, Trelleborg Lanka at Sapugaskanda and Trelleborg Wheel Systems Lanka. These two plants employ 925 workers and produce industrial tires, mainly for export.
The Hartville factory employs some 200 people, of whom about 115 are involved in production. (Tire Review/Akron)
