Toyo Rolls Out ‘Ultra-Premium’ Regional Highway Radial

Toyo Tire USA Corp. has launched the M154TM, which it calls an “ultra-premium,” all-steel regional highway tire for commercial trucks.

The M154 was created using “e-balance,” Toyo’s new proprietary design technology for commercial truck tires that creates a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction and optimization through computer simulation technology. Toyo said e-balance results in improved fuel economy.

Primarily designed for steer axle positions, Toyo said the new five-rib tire, with a 22/32nds inch tread depth, can be used at all wheel positions.

The tire’s tread features deep sipes for water drainage, and a straight differential rib in the outer groove to help prevent uneven wear. Siping in the outer rib also helps prevent river wear, and stone ejectors in the grooves limit stone retention and drilling.

The Toyo M154 will be available this spring in a 295/75R22.5. Future sizes include a 285/75R24.5 in the summer; 11R22.5 and 11R24.5, both in LRG and LRH, in the fall and near the end of 2008, 265/75R22.5 and 245/75R22.5. (Tire Review/Akron)
