Toyo Launches Competition Versions of Open Country M/T

(Akron/Tire Review) Toyo Tire (USA) Corp. has introduced new racing compounds for its new non-DOT Open Country M/T tires.

The tire is used on light trucks and dual-purpose vehicles in off-road racing applications.

“Track conditions, especially in closed-course, off-road racing, can vary from muddy and slick, to polished dry, more like asphalt,” says Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports. “Trucks that can exceed 800-horsepower need optimized compounds to perform at their best. This form of ongoing tire development also benefits consumers, as continuous feedback in punishing environments leads to data which helps to further advance product technology.”

Doran Manufacturing has introduced the Doran 360OTR tire monitoring system, which it said reduces tire-related production interruptions by monitoring tire inflation pressures/temperatures, and alerting drivers of problems in real-time. Large bore, external, valve stem-mounted sensors pass tire pressure and temperature data to the in-cab monitor/display, providing drivers with real-time information and alerts.
