Tireman’s Tragedy is Cause for Pause

The wife of a tireman was killed near Jacksonville, Fla., on Sept. 20. She lost the handle on the pick-up truck she was driving on I-95. It crashed.

She was eight months pregnant at the time. Her husband and three-year-old daughter were in the truck at the time and suffered only minor injuries. Thank god.

But she is dead. A young wife and mother gone.

One of the tires on the truck peeled. A large all-terrain truck tire her husband picked up used for $45. From the tire store he works at.

Investigators said the tire was “well worn,” according to news reports. The tireman said the used tire he bought appeared to be in good condition.

“It wasn’t near … (to) where it should have done that. No vibration, no pop, no wobbling. It just blew on us,” the tireman told local TV.

No vibration. No pop. No wife. No mother. $45.

Maybe that was all he could afford. Relatives are taking up a collection to pay for her funeral.
