Tire Store Raids Net Meth Lab, Money and Guns

Federal authorities arrested 15 people in Georgia on gun and drug charges on Jan. 20 after raids on two tire dealerships.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, federal, state and local investigators were involved in the probe and arrests, and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force also seized millions in cash, cars, drugs and guns from the two tire stores.

The two stores, according to the newspaper, were Alex Tires and Rims in Marietta, Ga., and Emmy Tires in Griffin, Ga. Officials said the raids on the two locations produced a meth lab, 22 guns, methamphetamines, more than $30,000 in cash and several vehicles. Also seized separately were some $1 million in cash, 75 kilograms of cocaine, more than 11 pounds of methamphetamine, 16 firearms and two grenade hulls.

A federal indictment issued on Jan. 20 charged 15 people with a number of crimes. Those indicted were from Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Powder Springs, Smyrna, Cartersville and Marietta.
