The Tire Rack is celebrating its 10th anniversary as the title sponsor of the Tire Rack One Lap of America, a charitable street-legal road rally race started by the legendary auto writer Brock Yates nearly 30 years ago.
The 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America begins May 5 at Tire Rack’s headquarters and test track in South Bend, Ind., and returns to that site eight days later for the final test laps.
The 2012 race will visit race tracks like the Autobahn Country Club in Illinois; the High Plains Raceway in Colorado; the road course and drag strip in Brainerd, Minn.; and spend two days at Road America in Wisconsin. This year, more than 80 entrants will try to cover the 3,500-mile competition.
The official charity of the Tire Rack One Lap of America is KaleidoLINKS, a non-profit organization that helps youth to break out of the cycle of poverty through education, community organization and mentorships.
